This strand is from Mikimoto’s top 3% harvest, and have the quality grade of “A.” The white pearls measure 7.5-7.0 mm in size, and have good luster. These 239 pearls are also beautifully matched and nicely round. The outer strand measures 20″ in length with 67 pearls, the two middle strands measure 19″ in length with 62 pearls and 18″ in length with 57 pearls, respectively, and the inner strand measures 16″ in length with 53 pearls. The necklace is ready to be worn as the pearls were restrung with silk thread by Mikimoto. The clasp, with a 5.5 mm pearl in the center, is sterling silver, and is fully hallmarked “S” with the Mikimoto logo “M” in a cartouche. The strand was appraised on October 30, 2008 by Mikimoto of New York at $13,600, and the Certificate of Valuation will be sent to the winning bidder. In addition, the necklace will come in a new grey-and-cement Mikimoto jacket with white outer box, so the winning bidder could present this as a very lovely gift. Vintage Mikimoto Pearl Necklace Up for auction is this exceptionally beautiful pearl necklace. This is a stunning piece that measures approximately 15″ long. Each pearl on average measures 6.0 mm – 6.14 mm in size and the first two on either side of the silver clasp are hand tied, the other pearls are not individually knotted. Each one is similar to the other in size, shape and color. They are creamy white in color and have a brilliant lustre. They are wonderfully brought together with the Mikimoto clam shell hallmark with a sterling silver clasp and an “S” at the bottom of the “M”.
