The clasp, with a 5.5 mm pearl in the center, is sterling silver, and is fully hallmarked “S” with the Mikimoto logo “M” in a cartouche. The strand was appraised on October 30, 2008 by Mikimoto of New York at $13,600, and the Certificate of Valuation will be sent to the winning bidder. In addition, the necklace will come in a new grey-and-cement Mikimoto jacket with white outer box, so the winning bidder could present this as a very lovely gift.
